TECHNICAL SUPPORT OFFICER

PTL is seeking to recruit a Technical Support Officer to ensure the smooth running, correct operations and maintenance of all computer systems.

THE POSITION

Based in Malta and reporting to the Manager – Technical Services and Customer Support, the chosen candidate will be part of a team which provides Level 2 support to end users, maintains the company’s servers and systems, installs and configures new systems and diagnoses any hardware and software user issues.

The role of the Technical Support Officer entails:

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications, with a special focus on Microsoft and Apple products;
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;
  • Talking to staff and clients through a series of actions to help set up systems or resolve issues;
  • Troubleshooting system and network issues and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults;
  • Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;
  • Supporting the roll-out of new applications;
  • Setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;
  • Responding to call-outs, process tickets;
  • Prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time;
  • Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals;
  • Testing and evaluating new technology;
  • Follow-up and closing open tickets in a timely manner;
  • Following company processes and procedures for support;
  • Being pro-active and with a customer first mind-set.

THE REQUIREMENTS

Ideal candidates will have at least two years’ experience supporting customers in an IT environment, and hold a higher National Diploma or similar qualification. Candidates must possess a sound knowledge of supporting desktop users on Windows and Apple hardware and an understanding of Windows Server products. Basic management of Hyper V and VMWare environments, knowledge of Android and Apple devices, understanding of information security policies and Microsoft Active Directory and Domain User creation and Office 365 user management are critical. Candidates holding certifications such as Comptia A+, Server+ or Network+, CCENT or CCNA will have advantage.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER

PTL Limited is seeking a Junior Technical Support Engineer to maintain mission-critical systems and coordinate on-boarding of the various international clients using these systems.

THE POSITION

The chosen candidate will join the Database & Middleware Services team that is responsible for the implementation and on-going support of these systems from a business, middleware and database perspective.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform system and application software upgrades within the established change management policies
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Liaise with suppliers and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Liase with clients for on-boarding, testing and on-going support
  • Participate in the 24/7 oncall rotation.

THE REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • A good working knowledge of Linux, Unix, AIX or similar *nix-based operating systems. Industry certifications in any of these will be considered an asset
  • A working knowledge in the management and support of any of the mainstream relational database management systems will be considered an asset
  • A working knowledge in any of the mainstream Java-based Application servers
  • Good English communications skills
  • Capability to carry out site visits (in Malta) within timeframes dictated by SLA’s
  • Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, systems management and diagnostic tools
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.

PROGRAMME MANAGER

PTL Malta, is seeking an experienced Programme Manager to leverage the design of products and manage key projects from inception to post-implementation.

THE POSITION

Based in Malta and reporting to the Head of Strategy, the Programme Manager is actively part of the thinking structures leading to the formation and execution of the PTL corporate strategy. 

The Programme Manager is also a key element in product design and the management of multiple projects. 

The job will entail managing relations between internal resources and external vendors, measuring project performance, reporting and escalation as necessary, creating and maintaining documentation and conducting post-implementation reviews. The will be a need to travel as and when required to meet potential foreign customers and partners.  The Programme Manager ensures that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

THE REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will be in possession of a post graduate degree in IT or a management related field and a minimum five years’ experience in project management within the technology sector. A solid understanding of software development and web technologies, and proficiency in project planning methods are essential. Excellent people skills, client-management, presentation and communication skills are requisites. Experience in Product Management as well as managing programmes of a large scale will be considered an advantage. 

The chosen candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record for managing multiple projects to completion and to customer satisfaction, and an aptitude for emerging trends and new technologies.

COMMERCIAL SPECIALIST

PTL Limited is seeking to further expand the current sales team and is looking for a Commercial Specialist focused on IT business solutions.

THE POSITION

Based in Malta and reporting to the Head of Unit, the Commerical Specialist will be responsible for building strong customer relations and creating new business opportunities through sales discussions, presentations and sales proposals at existing customers and also rolling at new potential customers.

THE REQUIREMENTS

The chosen candidate will have a minimum of four years’ experience as a sales professional within the IT industry and with a proven track record for sales.

This position calls for an assertive, confident individual who is motivated by the drive to sell and has a positive attitude. S/he should possess strong interpersonal skills and have a pro-active approach towards sales. Excellent communication skills, fluency in English and Maltese, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential. The candidate must possess a valid driving license.

LINUX SYSTEMS ENGINEER

PTL is looking for a Linux Systems Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support the Linux and Unix server operating systems of our growing customer base.

THE POSITION

The chosen candidate will be part of the systems engineering team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available system architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and configure Linux and Unix systems on a variety of hardware platforms
  • Perform system and application software upgrades within the established change management policies
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilisation, trending, and capacity planning
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues

PTL Limited is seeking to appoint a Junior Software Engineer to further expand the software engineering team.

THE POSITION

Based in Malta and reporting directly to the Head of Product Engineering and Architecture, the junior software engineer shall support the development of numerous applications and provide complete software lifecycle support under the guidance of Senior Software Engineer.

THE POSITION

The chosen candidate will be part of the systems engineering team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VOIP, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

THE REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have a minimum three years’ hands-on network engineering experience and an IT degree or equivalent. Candidates should possess CCNA or higher (CCNP highly valued), a deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS) and of the OSI or TCP/IP model. Experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools, a willingness to join a 24/7 on-call rotation, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of the team of IT professionals is critical.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER

PTL Limited is seeking to recruit Software Engineers to join its dynamic team and support its diverse customer base.

THE POSITION

Based in Malta and reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, the Software Engineers will support the development of numerous applications and provide complete software lifecycle support under the guidance of a Senior Software Engineer. The chosen candidates shall be involved in the design phase of software to fulfill customer requirements and specifications. They shall also carry out and document unit testing, maintain and extend existing development activities.

THE REQUIREMENTS

The chosen candidates will be graduates in Computing or a related discipline with a minimum of two years’ experience in software engineering. Applicants must be able to demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills and innovative thinking. Candidates with knowledge of .NET will be given preference.
