Database Administrator (Ref: PTL-DBA 011/15)

PTL Malta is seeking to recruit a Database Administrator to join its Systems Team and support its diverse client base.

The Position

Based in Malta and reporting to the Head of Systems Engineering, the Database Administrator will provide installation services and support in Oracle and/or DB2, carry out maintenance and troubleshooting, and design databases. The Database Administrator will be responsible for database file systems, backup and recovery procedures, writing, editing and optimizing SQL statements, performance, tuning and monitoring of databases, recommending improvements, and carrying out maintenance.

The requirements

The successful candidate will have completed tertiary education, and will be able to demonstrate a can-do attitude with a strong work ethic and a passion for technology. Core proficiency in logical and physical database design, stored procedures, triggers, backups and upgrades within Oracle and /or DB2, coupled with the ability to research, recommend and apply new solutions is essential to the role. The ideal candidate will have a track record for handling multiple projects in a fast-paced changing environment. Although specific training will be provided, at least two years’ experience in databases especially in DB2 or Oracle and scripting using PL/SQL will be considered an asset.
Knowledge in Application Server (IBM WebSphere, Application Server Network Deployment, Apache Tomcat), Web Server (Apache HTTP Server, IBM HTTP Server), Windows, Redhat Linux and AIX Unix, Shell scripting and experience in High Availability, Infrastructure, Performance Tuning, Security, LDAP /SSO will be advantageous.

A valid driving licence and own means of transport are essential.

Business Applications Consultant (Ref: PTL-BAC 010/15)

PTL Malta is seeking to recruit a Business Applications Consultant to join its team of ERP specialists in implementing and supporting various products and technologies at client sites.

The Position

Based in Malta and reporting to the Head of Business Applications, the Business Applications Consultant analyses and discusses customer requirements, maps these requirements to a portfolio of available applications, and manages the implementation of applications through the project lifecycle to go-live and post implementation support.

The Requirements

The successful candidate will be a graduate in Business and Computing or Information Systems (or a related discipline) with a can-do attitude and a passion for technology. Although specific application training will be provided, at least two years’ experience in the implementation of ERP Applications, with responsibility for analysis, design and configuration of software is essential. Technical knowledge in Crystal Reports and scripting using PL/SQL is an asset. Travel may be required occasionally.

The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a hands-on technical aptitude, the ability to work in a dynamic team, and motivation to deliver.
